If you would like to volunteer for our club, there are so many areas that you can get involved!
You might want to give back to the club as a past player, as a parent/guardian of a player or just love your community and love what Malahide basketball does for our community.
Also You don’t have to know anything about the game, we will provide you will all the tools to help so why not join us in making this club an even better one!

It’s easy to watch but better to volunteer.

What our volunteers say.

Sinead

I have been part of Malahide basketball club for 40 years. I played club basketball from under 19 to Senior ladies. I love giving back to a club that gave me so much as a player. When I played youth basketball, it was volunteers like Peggy Burke, GV Wright and Gerry Tyrell that gave me the opportunities to learn and excel in the game. So when it came to my turn to volunteer, I didn’t hesitate. I coached my children’s teams from under 10’s to under 18’s. My family enjoyed many years of basketball matches, trips away and making life long friends along the way. I now volunteer with the All Star team and am a member of the Club committee and the National league committee. I would recommend anyone to get involved, even if you don’t have any experience in the game. It is a great club, so join our volunteer group and be part of something special!

“When my daughter joined MBC as an 8 year old, I had no idea what a wonderful family experience lay ahead. Cut to 17years later, my three children have all been members and two continue to play in the senior divisions. It has been one of the most positive experiences we as a family have had. When asked if I would manage my son’s team, it was an easy “yes”. Despite not having played before, the support from the more experienced members was excellent. Since then I have taken on other roles in the club which have been equally as rewarding. Volunteering for Malahide Basketball Club is an absolute pleasure, the friendships that have been forged and the fun that I have had and continue to have, makes Malahide Basketball Club a very special place. I would recommend this to everyone!! 🏀💙

"I had never played basketball in school or afterward, so I was a bit hesitant to get involved in volunteering for Malahide Basketball Club. However, when my son’s team needed a manager, I decided to step up—and I’m so glad I did! You don’t need any prior knowledge of basketball to volunteer. The club is incredibly inclusive and supportive, always welcoming and encouraging volunteers. Since starting, I’ve taken on new roles in the club . Volunteering here has been a fantastic way to give back and feel connected to a great group of people. I couldn’t recommend it enough!"

As a total newbie to basketball, I was fairly nervous the first time I volunteered to help on the table at my daughter’s game. I’m still no expert but there’s fantastic support from coaches, refs and other parents as you learn and it’s so lovely being part of your child’s game day. While it’s easier to volunteer at younger age groups, it’s never too late. I recently started helping in the manager role of U17s, needing no basketball knowledge. A perfect role for me! Malahide is a true community club and I’d strongly encourage anyone to put your hand up and give a little of your time - you might catch the basketball bug but will definitely enjoy being part of this super group of people.

ALL STARS TEAM. - BEST HOUR OF THE WEEK - I have been a club member since I was young girl, playing in school, then university and coaching for over 15 years - we have won leagues and tournaments, medals, cups and trophy’s, But helping at All Stars is one of the best experiences yet! Saturday afternoon in Ollie’s Hall is the All Stars training session. “A very special place full of special individuals.’ So said one of the mums - Here for an hour a week we come together with an incredible group of youngsters and their parents who all have their own unique struggles. But the hall is full of laughter where everyone is delighted to see you and there’s an amazing focus on fun, kindness and patience. A place for the youngsters to participate and shine. A place where they feel they can belong and make new friends and all the helpers join in. If you feel you could do with a bit of sparkle in your life join us in making a difference to these special individuals, become a helper with us, we would love to see you. No basketball experience is needed just a kind heart and a warm smile. It will be one of the most rewarding things you do all week.
